Cold, Rainy, perfect day for quilting

Good evening, It is cold and raining here, I miss spring already. But it will return, soon I hope. I went to my charm block swap yesterday, the color was green, I have no idea what I will do with all these 6" blocks, but I am sure I can come up with something. I do enjoy going to the different classes and clubs at our LQS. I love everyone's quilts they bring for show and tell. There are some really talented ladies that attend these "meetings". Ihave met some great people there too. FUN, FUN, FUN.
I have been quilting on my baby quilt today, I hope to finish it tomorrow, then start on the other quilt I have pin basted and ready to quilt. I was planning to work on them last Saturday but had company, unexpected, but very much loved. Hadn't seen the young lady in almost 30 years. She and our son dated for about 5 years, from their early dating years until after high school graduation. She doeesn't seem to have changed very much, seems as sweet as ever and definitely as pretty. She has 2 daughters now, so was fun to catch up on her life. Found out her Mother lives pretty close to me and is a quilter. Am going to call her and see if she would be interested in going to our guild meeting. She doesn't drive at night, so would be a way for her to get there and I wouldn't have to go by myself. Looking forward to seeing her also.
Renewing old friendships is such fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to LQS today also, had to get some thread and had ordered a template, so picked them up. They were not very busy so sat and talked for a while, I love to do that, I always learn so much just from talking to people who quilt, and she (the owner) is one of the smartest people I know.
She is going to start having a "class" on one Thursday a month to share some of her terrific Tips and Tricks. Should be fun and educational. Can't wait. The first one is the 12th. of April. Hope she has enough interest so she will be able to continue having them.
Hope everyone is warm and snug tonight, as for me, think I will go watch a little TV. Don't do that much, don't particulary like tv, but laying on the couch under a quilt sounds appealing. So tomorrow will be Quilting Memories and hope you are too.

Good evening everyone, hope your weather was as nice where you live as ours was today, the weather lady said it was 83 degrees today, we set a record. It was plenty warm when we went for our walk.We walked almost 2 miles, and I was whipped when we got through. But I do like hot weather, and I will get used to walking when its hot soon, I'm sure.
Yesterday hubby tried (once again) to post some pictures for me, we thought he had , and I wrote about them and clicked publish and they left, have NO idea where they are. That is so frusterating.(sp:::) He said he would try again soon, one day I will have some of my sewing to show. We are determined!!!!
I picked up my BOM "s Tuesday and finished them yesterday, I am getting a little better, My Instructor keeps encouraging me, and I do appreciate her for that. Ms. G, are you reading this??? Yes, I am done until we get some more. I wanted so badly to post them, but maybe next time, I do think they are pretty.
I cut out another quilt yesterday and today, only to discover I needed 7 more inches of the border fabric, so went to LQS, and was lucky, they did have it, so tomorrow will finish cutting that out and hopefully get some sewing done on that. I also found a top for a baby quilt that I have embroidered,(the first one I embroidered when I got my machine 4 years ago,) I had forgotten it, I guess it does pay to straighten up occasionaly!!!!! I want to cut out the backing for that, I have some fabric I can use, and keep extra batting here, so will try to work on that as well.
What I REALLY need to do is some housework, so will start that as well. I don't have a very large house, but I can't dust and vacuum it all in one day.Hubby will vacuum for me most of the time. Will decide what I am going to do when I get up, according to how I feel. Not as young as I used to be. Gets harder and harder to get everything done!!!!
Wishing everyone a great weekend and wonderful quilting Memories. Later Everyone

Still Straightening Sewing Room

If any one finds a blog from me floating around in blogland, just know my DH and I was trying to post some pics, and were not successful and also lost everything I had just posted. OH WELL,I have been back in my sewing room, I decided to go ahead and finish cleaning the rest of the cabinets, I still have the one to straighten that has all my hoilday fabrics in it, I don't know how it gets so messy, I have never made a holiday quilt, so all that fabric should be nice and straight, I think there must be Gremlins in my house, they also come in and make a mess of the rest of the house too.Maybe it's the dust bunnies getting revenge!!!!!!!!!
I will be by myself most of the day tomorrow, maybe I can get finished, although I must do some work on this house, or the dust bunnies ARE going to carry me away.
I do hope every one has had a very nice weekend, we have, it's been quiet around here, it was too cold for us to even get out and walk. I will be glad when Spring is here, I am not fond of cold weather.
Ms. GN, I hope your pig picking went well, I did my sun dance but apparently forgot to do my dance for warm weather, will try to do better next time!!!!!!!!!!
As for me, this week I PLAN to make some Quilting Memories, hope you do too. Stay warm everyone.

Sewing Room Calling Me

Sometimes I think I am the only one who lets her sewing room get in such a mess,But no matter what I think it is a MESS. Well it was, that is what I have been doing for a couple days now, hope to finish it tomorrow. You really couldn't SEE the mess, I had it all nicely hid away, but I couldn't find anything!!!!!!!!!I have been trying to decide what quilt I wanted to do next, soooo, today I went through all my baby fabrics and put them all out where I can see them, will be easier for me to decide. I have several panels I have bought over the years, so think I may start on them and get them out of the way. Someone could use them I am sure. I am not looking forward to making them but do need to finish them.
The weather has been lovely here again today, walked another 1 1/2 mile. I have lost 4 1/2 pounds, so that makes it all worthwhile.I am hoping to loose 20+ by July 4th. Wish me luck. I have been battleing a weight problem for many years, maybe this will be the time I can keep it off!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I washed 5 loads of laundry, and washed the fabrics for my next charming cotton club. I am trying to stay ahead by at least a month. I won't be here for the July exchange, so am going to have to get someone to take mine and get the ones I am supposed to get in return. Will talk to the lady in charge. I am also going to have a problem with the BOM, I will not be here for 3 of them, maybe the "nice" lady that does that will put mine back for me.!!!
Hubby has been using my sewing machine for the last 3 days , so told him today he could only have it one more day then I will be ready to sew again.I have to cut off and hem 2 pair of jeans for him before I can do any thing else. I don't like cutting off jeans, but I have to cut off all he buys, he has very short legs.
The washer is calling my name, last load needs to be put in dryer, so make lots of quilting memories.

Went to our quilt guild meeting last night, as always Show and Tell was all very pretty quilts. I do enjoy that part, as I really haven't participated in any of the activities or Bees , I generally don't know what is going on. I have meet some very nice ladies and have enjoyed MOST of the speakers. The speaker last night is a very lovely lady and very talented, she had some beautiful quilts and told a little of her back ground. I always find other people's lives so interesting.
Today I have been contemplating what kind of new quilt I want to start, I plan to make at least one more baby quilt to put away for any future great grand children I may be blessed with. I have several things in mind just can't seem to decide, but am not in much of a hurry.
Hubby and I got our itenerary for our traveling this summer, we will go to Lake Tahoe,Rock Rapids, Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Pa., Portland Oregon,Denver Colo, and Austin Texas. Will be gone all month of July and most of the next 3 months. That should take care of my eagerness to travel for this year. Haven't ever been away from my home and family that long, sure hope I like it, as it is out job, so we can't decide we will turn around and come home.We have traveled some over our married life, not a great deal, have driven to California twice, so saw a lot then, but this time we will be covering a lot of area we haven't seen before. I am so looking forward to going, wish we could leave tomorrow!!!!!!
We are eagerly waiting to find out whether we are having a great niece or nephew, they hope to find out next month, then I can get their quilt started. I never finish a "special" quilt until baby arrives, that way I can embroider name and birthdate on it.Have done several and the parents seem to appreciate them.
The weather was beautiful again today, we walked 1and 1/2 mile,Am a little tired this evening, haven't felt real good today, and really haven't done very much, but we all deserve a day to do nothing if that is what we want to do.RIGHT!!!!!!!!
Have been separating some of my scraps, will give some of them away and do something with the rest. Several of you ladies have gotten me interested in doing a string quilt, will wait and see, must do the baby quilts first.I also have all the charm blocks to think about too. I have a new template that will make a nice charm quilt. maybe someday I will get all these quilts that is in my head made. Do you think so???????????
Hope all of you have had a blessed day and Making lots of quilting Memories!!!

BOM"S and Charming Cotton Club

Today took me a little time to get my head on straight, I think I miss my hour we lost this am. However I have been quiet busy this afternoon. Cut out my 2 BOM's and have them partially pieced, I am so slow, but am trying.Hope to finish tomorrow, but will have to share my machine with my hubby. He digitizes designs and finished one today, so will need to embroidery it tomorrow, hopefully it won't take him to long. I have another sewing machine, but having already started on this one, I hate to change. Should have thought of that before I started sewing today, knew he wanted to sew tomorrow. OH WELL, I do have to cut out 28 --5inch square blocks for our charming cotton club. We each (there are 14 of us) take 2 colors of fabric and cut 5' squares to share, hopefully to make a charm quilt. That should be interesting for me, I have trouble with the BOM's, so maybe will learn something else new. I think I am getting too old to learn all these new things!!!! I do wish I had gotten interested in quilting long, long ago. But unfortunately I can't turn back time like we turn our clocks!! I also may cut my squares for next month's club, I already have the fabric and it is washed and pressed, so that would be a step ahead, and that would be nice.
Friday was my Granddaughters 12th. Birthday, where has the time gone, we all went to dinner last night, and I almost cried, she is no longer a little girl, she has definitely become a beautiful young lady. I must have been asleep, I don't remember the change, did it happen overnight?????
Yesterday was my sweet sister's birthday, she is a very special person in my life, I do so enjoy what time we have together. She lives about 5 hours away, and I don't see her nearly enough, I sure do miss her.If YOU are reading this please know I LOVE you and miss you. Hope we can see each other soon. We do have some good times when we get together. We leave hubbys to fend for themselves and go do "our thing" , which is usually go to the LQS and whichever ones that are nearby. We can always find a quilt shop. We may get lost (WE USUALLY DO ) but we always find the quilt shops before we go home!!!!!!!!!
The weather was outstanding here today, hubby and I walked a mile, was great being in the great outdoors. We hope by Wednesday to increase our walks to 1 and 1/2 miles, and gradually get back up to at least the 3 miles we were walking in the fall. Hope all of you have had a great weekend and the week to come will be even better.
Happy Quilting Everyone

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Hi Everyone, are you having pretty weather? I hope so, the last couple days here has been fabulous. Hubby and I decided it was time for us to get our selves moving (walking) . We walked a lot last year but took this job and got lazy, so decided we needed to get started back. It was a little cool today but we enjoyed being out doors. We managed a mile both days, we had gotten up to 3 miles a day, so will have to get geared up for that again. Don't think it will take very long. I losy about 30 lbs. last year and have let myself gain about 10 of those back, so MUST do something. Would like to loose several pounds more than 30, so am really going to get busy.
I have been sewing a couple quilt squares , took all day yesterday and most of today, I am just not that good with a lot of small pieces. These are the $5.00 quilt blocks from our lqs, I don't usually get involved in that sort of monthly thing, but I really am trying to become a better quilter. I figure this will help. Of course the 2 that I just finished were last months, so now I must get the 2 done for this month. That looks hard to me, too. But am going to try.
I took the binding off the baby quilt I posted last week, didn't think it looked right, and when I asked, I was told, that wasn't the way it was normally done, well I want it to be as good as possible, so will get it back together tomorrow. I want to take it to our guild meeting on Monday night for Show and Tell. Surely don't want to take a quilt there that isn't done right, not in front of a room full of quilters.!!!!!!!!!!
Looking for Spring,How about you??????????? Happy Quilting Everyone

Quilts

Thanks for the nice comments, I did so enjoy making these quilts and am axiously awaiting to be a GGM.Our nephew and his wife are due in a few months, this will be their first, am going to wait to see what sex the baby is before I start them a quilt. I am excited for them, they lost one last summer, so that makes this one extra special, of course they are all special.
The top quilt is pastels, and the bottom one was primary colors, now I have to make at least one more, haven't decided what color or design yet. I have several more projects to finish before I begin a new one. If I don't get some housework done, my house is going to rot!!!!!!!! LOL, also working on our taxes all day today, maybe I can get them done tomorrow. I hate that job.
Ms. Goodneedle ( I love that name ) and Libby I do enjoy reading your blogs, and Ms. GN it is fun reading someones blog that I know, ( Even a little) And YES, I know who told you what my blogsite was, and that is ok. I sure do like her, she has been so helpful to me, and made me feel so welcome at the guild meetings. I am looking forward to this months meeting, I like Kaye too. She is so bubbly. And seems to be a very accompolished quilter, so she should be interesting.
I plan to go to Shirley's either Wednesday or Thursday, want to show her my quilt. Hope she likes it.
Hope everyone has had a blessed day, and happy quilting.
